TweetDeck is an Adobe AIR desktop Twitter application. Like other Twitter applications it interfaces with the Twitter API to allow users to send and receive tweets and view profiles. According to TwitStat, it is the most popular Twitter desktop application.[2] It is compatible with Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X, with possible manual installation to GNU/Linux.
[edit] User Interface
Users can split the program into columns which show different things, for instance tweets from friends. TweetDeck interfaces with Twitscoop, 12seconds and Stocktwits, all of which can appear in separate columns.[3] It also allows users to split the people they follow into groups, a very useful feature to many users.
[edit] Facebook Integration
On 16/03/2009, a pre-release version was released featuring Facebook status updates integration.[4][5] As of 08/04/09, Facebook status updates are part of the standard program. [6]
[edit] Criticism
TweetDeck uses a Web 2.0 suggestion system called UserVoice[7] which allows users to suggest new features. Through UserVoice, some of the main criticisms of TweetDeck have been found to be the fact that it isn't possible to manage multiple Twitter accounts[8] and its inability to resize columns.[9]
